The NFL plans to fine John Fox and Jack Del Rio $20K each for their treatment of the scab refs on Monday, and the league office even called the Georgia Dome at halftime to tell them to tone down their acts. To be clear, GFY Roger Goodell and Ray Anderson.

If the league doesn't like coaches getting pissed at poor officiating, there's one easy solution. The league is now fining coaches for not pretending that everything is normal.

    •  They've done that forever. (0+ / 0-)

The NBA does it too. A few years ago David Stern fined Jeff Van Gundy six figures for his comments about officiating. To be fair, Van Gundy's sounded like a conspiracy theory, but still, it's obvious that any dissent will be quickly and ruthlessly quashed.

Nothing to do with displeasure communicated during the game.  I don't ever recall a coach getting flagged or ejected from an NFL game for what was going on during the game.

In the '94 NFC Championship game between the Cowboys and 49ers Dallas HC Barry Switzer was too aggressive in protesting a pass interference non-call and his team was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct as a result.
