  •  It's not a dollar store... (11+ / 0-)

but I suspect one of the stores you're talking about is an outfit called Big Lots, and maybe SaveMor (sp?) grocery, both of which we have here. Big Lots was here for a while, several years, in one location, where the SaveMor is now, and left when the rent was raised too high; now, several years later, they are back in a new location up by the local Safeway. Poor folks here and others with limited budgets use both extensively. One thing I bought some years ago at Big Lots was about ten cases of jam jars, made in the US by a company that's not one of the Big Two/Monolith. I admit we have shopped there. They usually have things we need, but by brands other than the biggest ones that pay Fred's and the other top-mark grocery stores in town for shelf space.

I don't know if the dollar stores here are sucking up surplus food. Will look. Aji, if they are, I'll photograph it until they throw me out. I don't care if they do, because I won't shop there anyway.

Why are war casualty counts "American troops" and "others" but never "human beings"?
