  •  The script error I was getting a few days (11+ / 0-)

ago was from the HuffPo poll. I blocked it with NoScript and I don't get it anymore. :)

I installed this & found that it needs to be set to allow daily kos script in order to make the jump past "rate all" to where I can actually use the radio buttons to rate comments.  (Somewhere here I read that the rate all thing is old coding still in the system, and java is needed to get to the newer version of the buttons.)  Do you have tips on using noscript on this site?

As for the general problem -   I had been occasionally having the script problem.   The problme is usually, but not always, with the front page.  I'm a subscriber, so no ads, and this particular machine has firefox & windows.  I also have a slate using android, and the problem with this site on that device is the page hanging and then kicking me out - again often with the front page, but also often when previewing or posting comments.

          •  What you can do is use the "Options" button (3+ / 0-)

on the bottom and click "Temporarily allow" on each blocked script. It will allow you to see what each script is allowing. I think I allow everything except "Optimizely" and "Googleadservices". Probably allowed more than I need, but this configuration works well for me.

If you accidentally disable something you need, or allow something you don't want, you can click Reset, and it will block everything again, and you can start fresh.

Then, when you have a problem, such as the HuffPo script, up on your menu bar is an "S" with a red circle/slash. If you click on that when you're having a script error, it shows an option to disable the specific script. I could tell which script to disable as it was giving me the address in the error message. You only see that option to disable a specific script when there is an error.

Also, every new page you go to, until you've customized it, you will need to allow scripts. When I go to a page for a one time visit, I usually just click "Temporarily allow all" to get through. It will block videos and such, so it can be kind of a pain, until you get used to what you need to do.

            Hope that helps.
