  •  I have the opposite situation (6+ / 0-)

A lot of people on my FB account are, like me, expats from my hometown. I've never personally met about half of them, but we became friends from the hometown group page.

These are nice friendly, seemingly intelligent, people with whom I generally have a lot in common. Since the start of the election cycle though I've come to realize - much to my shock - how many of them suffer from... what was it someone called it? Obama Derangement Syndrome.

It's been mildly upsetting to see some of the stuff they believe. In a day and age of such easily accessible information, I chalk up such ignorance of facts as laziness or raging Cognitive Dissonance. No use talking to them about it - they know what they know and there's no other truth.

Didn't want to do a mass purge, so I just posted that FB needs to install a "no political posts" feature on their preferences controls because the newsfeed was getting out of hand. Then I checked the "only important" status updates option. That took care of most of it. The rest I can ignore.

Meddle not in the affairs of dragons... for thou art crunchy and good with ketchup.
