    which I heard on the radio this morning, is that the person in Mitt's example, if uninsured and not eligible for Medicaid, is likely to wake up with a bill that will put him in debt for the rest of his life--just because the ER has to treat you, doesn't mean they have to do it for free. And, of course, if the person truly cannot pay, the cost ends up being factored into the hospital's cost and thus everyone's health insurance/ taxes. Mitt was actually quite persuasive arguing for "personal responsibility" as justification for the health insurance mandate (AKA Romneycare), before he became a born-again opponent of universal health insurance.
