WWII happened in an age before massive globalization and the many giant multinational corporations and banks. For them, they wouldn't want conflict, it might interrupt business and hence kill profits.

    Can't have that.

So instead I think the rise will be sock puppets who might look like dictators, but really are controlled by the puppet strings of mega banks and corporations.

Hell, if we don't already have that to some degree.

    •  huh (8+ / 0-)

world wars  rose up from a world filled with monopolies and trust and robber barons.  These Mega corps arent going to save anything or anyone.  They will just find a way to profit on the pain and death.  Slave labor comes to mind.

      •  The key difference here is that those Barons (0+ / 0-)

had allegiance and alliance to nation states. Our current crop of barons have none of that.

The US had to close Jekyl island off of Georgia during ww2, because it was thought the nazi via Uboats were visiting there and working out deals.

The rich care about power and money and the greed, not imaginary lines.

          •  Underhanded deals occured obviously (0+ / 0-)

But that's the key, it was subversive not overtly in your face like now.

          •  Lots of crazy stuff happened there (0+ / 0-)

back in the first half of the last century.

Maybe the U.S. closed off Jekyll Island in order to facilitate making deals with the Nazis.

Hell, it's where a handful of rich men invented the Federal Reserve thirty years earlier. Par for the course.

Prescott Bush and the Du Ponts and many others..  The robber barons had little allegiance to their countries.

Profit was the motive. The only motive, just as today.

So it's not so easy for technologically advanced nations to go to war against each other. Progress!

    •  and finally (6+ / 0-)

it will be the banks and multi corps that NEED the war. It will be about who pays and who doesnt.

Debt and greed is why ww3 is assured.  The power of the banks and mega corps will demand it. The rich never ever give up their wealth voluntarily.  They always get poor dumb schmucks to fight for it first.

oil, minerals, water, food.  The rich want all of those things, so I agree they will get everyone else to fight over it.

        •  and you have that angle as well (3+ / 0-)

we have out of control debt, trade problems, mid east resource and religious unrest, a world teetering on world recession, a divided falling last superpower with a broken government, a planet ready to make some drastic changes causing resource havoc, and on and on.

Any one of these could cause a world war by itself, yet we have them ALL happening at once.

In your gut I think almost everyone knows whats coming, but we just all try to ignore it as best we can and push on and try to enjoy the day we have before us. I'm no different I try to ignore all this stuff to, but it doesnt make it go away  :(

Its all leading to one pretty obvious conclusion, world war,  I just wonder what kind of world comes out after it.

Religion is I believe not a cause but an effect, it's being used to cause the strife that the MI Complex, the rich and so on need to sell stuff, and ultimately to gather whatever is left back to them.

      •  Possibly, I just see complacency being the norm (0+ / 0-)

instead of conflict. I mean will there be some conflict, of course. But I think it will be played out in third world regions where proxy wars are started to create demand for products and services, meanwhile a complacent block of citizens fail to realize that while they may vote, its for a sock puppet to said banks and corporations.

look here, look at china,  youth unemployment is getting higher and higher, that scares the status quo.  Plus there needs debt to be settled, what better way to kill two birds with one stone.  Kill the youth via battlefields fighting over who pays their debt and who collects.

Its the same ol dance and tragedy we have seen for millenia. Why would it change now?
