we were not the ones shouting that the teachers make too much. However, your diary was not a defense of the Chicago teacher's current compensation and support of their new contract and raises. Your diary was specifically about the salary of the Superintendent and on that point few people agree with you.

BTW, I posted two diaries during the strike-- implying Mayor Emanuel's "strategy" is more or less the same as Romney/Bain Capital. since when is this appropriate for our public school systems?

on those diaries, several "liberals" implied or directly stated "teachers don't need/deserve unions" and "teacher's make too much money".

I guess this is a precursor to what is coming here; re: the numerous "democrats" in congress who have bought into the deficit/debt hysteria *put forth by the One Percent and their lackey GOP servants in congress), and will fully embrace austerity even tho' right now this is a massive failure in struggling EU nations. Seen the news on Spain?

It would have been useful in your diary if you had started with some background that you had written a few diaries during the teachers' strike, linked them, summarized the comments you received and than made your point about the Superintendent. However, even if you did that it would appear that based on other big city school system leaders the job in Chicago pays a market rate so the people here don't think the Superintendent's salary is an issue.
