    Henry Ford made it so the average Joe could buy a car by TAKING LESS PROFIT for the company.  He didn't have a salary that was 500% of his line workers and he kept prices reasonable by settling for a smaller profit margin.  He made it up with the fact that the average Joe COULD buy his cars -- and did.

    A car in this day and age  -- regardless of EPA standards or airbags or safety belts or safety glass or engines that run on unleaded gasoline (each one of which was hysterically proclaimed the death of the affordable automobile) -- can be made just as affordable if the top executives did not see their companies as personal piggy banks to be shaken out at a whim.

    If they price their cars out of the market, where is their market for cars?  You think China is going to pay north of $30K for a Ford?  England?  Brazil?  Not likely.
