  •  People do not like the idea of being told (13+ / 0-)

what to do. Although these same people tend to be imitators and copy what other people do, getting directions or being told what to do is different. I suspect it may be because they have a hard time remembering and following directions, especially complicated ones. Watching someone do something and then imitating the actions is different from remembering an instruction, conceptualizing it and then carrying it out.
The latter is what people are expected to do in the modern school and they don't like it, either because it's hard, or because they often fail.
Also, copy cat behavior relies on vision, what people see others do. Following directions, if they are written, also relies on vision, but written instructions require more processing, and verbal instructions follow an entirely different pathway.

Remembering the sequence of procedures is a specialized function of the brain which, if it is missing, can be compensated. Careful instructors just break a process down and instruct one step at a time. Indeed, that's what the early industrial production line did.  Then it turned out that some people do better, if they follow complex processes to the completion of a particular job.

I suspect that one reason there's so much demand for health care is because there's so much abuse to compensate for.  We have structured our society so that people only get attention when they are either sick or injured or close to dying. So, if they want attention, they get sick.  It's a bad habit we have fallen into.

We organize governments to provide benefits and prevent abuse.

    •  I agree. I see way to many sick people who (15+ / 0-)

Love to whine and defend their Misery loves Company.
The only things we can really control is our mind, body, heart and soul and too many Eagerly Allow others to control all of them.

I've been on disability for 20 years now and am so sick of repeat tests, too many drugs (that don't really work well) and mostly because of bad side effects (which are then made into a new disease or treated with another pill, and on and on it goes. I have taken back control of my incurable disease by natural remedies, change of mind-set- It doesn't Scare me any more- and have out-lived the original prognosis of 5- 7 years by 15 years.

I trust myself more than Profit-Minded Health Companies.

I wish DC/Government could rid the Corporate control over everything. But then I'm a democracy dreamer.

If anyone here hasn't read The Shock Doctrine ....keep dreaming.
