Our health care is generally very good to excellent. The problem is, because of our health care payment system, too many can't afford health care.

Private insurance companies that pay attention to only the shareholders have destroyed health care in this country. Health insurance is insurance that sooner or later, everyone will need, and our health care insurance industry is in desperate need of regulation and overhaul.

have good health care. Far too many endure excess tests and procedures, mistakes and miscommunication.

The founding fathers knew of the mutually corrupting influences of Church and state, wisely sending them to opposite corners.

Walk into an ER with a sore throat, and you might wait 24 hours. They are going to see the stab wounds first, even if they come in later.

(OTOH, I've been in an ER when it was otherwise empty.)

You don't get good health care there, unless you are obviously in critical condition. And it is DAMNED expensive health care.

As I said, those of us who can afford it, those of us on Medicare, those of us -- for that matter -- who have been in the care of one doctor long enough to develop a relatinship with him, get good health care.

          The rest, not so good.
