I follow hundreds of Africa eco and sustainable development, clean energy sites on Twitter.  I've been remiss lately in checking whats the buzz but this article reminded me to reconnect with one of my major passions. thanks, gmoke. been missing you :)

One of the things on my back burner is networking the Boston Area groups doing development work in African countries.  There's a lot going on but my suspicion is that the various groups are not talking to each other in any way shape or form.

Here are some more African resources:
Digital mapping of African Tech Hubs, Innovation Hubs & Hackerspaces

Dar es Salaam Innovation Space - ICT development but probably a good place to network

I'm part of an advisory group for Bob Lange's Maasai Stoves and Solar group mentioned in the diary.  If you can pass the word about them, I'd appreciate it.

        Thanks for your kind words.

in my delicious bookmarks, as well as twitter follows as well as my daughters contacts ... I did my Masters on ITEC and Africa ....

          Patriensa

Greenstarwas one of the first to set up solar powered community centers ... Fabulous stories here ... Partnered with them in a venture in 2000 FluidArts which brought together artists, scientists and educators to address to global digital divide. Ran out of funding, even to the point where the website no longer exists.

But oh those were the days. Recall a story from Rio where a computer science teacher had to take her students out into the city to actually SEE computers!

If I can ever get my old laptop to work again (Stella's tail knocked  a vase of water on it) I have the whole site and my masters on it!

God, I would love to share some of that with you. I still meet people who know people I intereviewed back then.

the hard drive probably is not. buy an external hard drive case and an adapter to the laptop drive connecter and you probably get it all back.
