People who watched the 60 Minutes interview realized that he was talking about doing away with most middle class tax deductions.  He is saying that middle class taxes will go up.  He also didn't understand the difference between capital gains for passive investors and corporate dividends.  He thoroughly confused and worried people in that interview.  It's going to hurt him in the debates, in ads and on the stump. Already his ill-timed tax summary release has made it into a pretty effective Obama ad.

His extended, candid answers on these issues show what deep convictions he holds about people "beneath" him. He can't even be bothered with being forthright about his tax payments, how do we expect him to give two hoots about sneaky tax policies. His mantra is a specious "tax cut"; he veils it with removing deductions. It's kind of a disaster to see him out there like that, being himself and all. But it's the real Mitt. No goofs or gaffes.
