  •  TALK ME DOWN PLEASE or confirm my fears. (8+ / 0-)

Someone talk me down, here - I'm losing it over the thoughts of stolen elections, rigged electronic voting booths, disenfranchisement, dirty tricks against voters and THE UTTER AND COMPLETE DENIAL OF POLLS AND REALITY FROM REPUBS.

    Seriously, wtf?

Someone talk me down, because I don't see how in the world they can be so dismissive of reality and polling unless they KNOW they have the FIX in.

    Seriously...I'm freaking out here, man.

There's a real danger here, especially with the use of polls like Rasmussen as cover against future theft. 2000 was stolen, 2004 was stolen, why would 2012 be different?

The ONLY safety we have is LARGE margins of opinion, to prevent the voter fraud and theft by the GOP from being able to turn the election. That means don't rest on leads in the polls. Run up the margins. Everybody work. Give til it hurts and then give again.

Notice that you left out an election year? That would be 2008. Speaking of 2008, according to electoral-vote.com, this is what the national polls looked like exactly four years ago:
        Obama 286    McCain 252
Today, even with Rasmussen figured in:
        Obama  328     Ties 4      Romney 206
        Without Rasmussen:
        Obama  347     Romney 191
Last time around, we had a junior senator versus a senior senator/war hero, and the latter significantly dropped in the polls only after Ms. "In What Respect, Charlie?" reared her head. Even then, the margins were a lot narrower than they are now. A McCain victory at that point was no longer probable but possible, and an election fix would have been much easier to pull off for that reason. Yet it didn't happen. Our guy won.

This time around, our guy is not some newcomer but the incumbent president, with all the resources the office entails Not only that, but he's the president who got Bin Laden without starting another war.

        He's got this.

because it doesn't fit with their world view. Google cognitive dissonance for more.....

They're hoping the fix is in, with the 2010 gerrymander and their voting rights supression efforts.

    •  It's a factor, for sure, but ... (6+ / 0-)

it's not big enough to swing the election four or five percentage points. In close races it will make a difference, which this cycle means downballot.

It's a national disgrace that federal elections are so largely governed by local laws.

      Listen to your former self:

      Fear is a powerful drug.

It enables the peddlers to shape reality into any form imaginable all while claiming that their way is the only way to manage the trumped up scenarios they produce.

Fear numbs and freezes it's victims and makes them easy targets for predators.

Fear's powers of incapacitation are the exact reason it spreads so easily...you can't move...it's gonna get ya.

Do you know what fearlessness does? I know it seems like a mysterious entity, especially to certain blocks of people around here, but it's an amazing antidote to bullshit, real or perceptual.

Our reality is determined by our own point of view. Think about it. When you DECIDE you are going to be grumpy, pissed off and foul - that's exactly what you are - and that's they way you are perceived by anyone who has to come in contact with you AND everyone else who comes into contact with them...ad infinitum.

When you DECIDE that you are in a great mood, that crisis can be easily handled today, that noting is going to bother you and that YOU BEING HAPPY AND PLEASANT is what your reality is...lo and behold - that's what it becomes. Seriously. People aren't strangers anymore, there in the same boat as you...a helpful word, an assist, an attempt at connection and empathy is natural.

All it takes is you DECIDING that's how you want to liv
      e.

Now, already I can hear the backlash..."Just because you decide to be happy doesn't mean the Oligarchy is not killing us and the government has tapped our Facebook and the world is ending and you better get your bullets and decide what team you're on!"

      No shit.

The point is - REJECT THE FEAR. It incapacitates you. It tells you you are helpless against the 100% overwhelming and more powerful forces against you. In other words it says to you "You may as well lay down because you are already dead."

      I will not peddle fear
and I will not have it peddled to me by people who are supposed to be on MY "Team" and you shouldn't either. You should reject it. You should look at it as a poison. You don't drink or eat poison knowingly do you? I mean, some do, but it's not sustaining and they die, right? Do you want to die?

Do you want to die? If you accept FEAR as reality you may as well already be dead.

Do you want to know the secret? You are NOT as strong as you ARE, you are as strong as you DECIDE you are. Fear takes away your ability to decide and only leaves you with the ability to accept.

Don't accept the fear being peddled. Don't choose it. It's that simple.

Decide that you are strong, smart, resilient and able to withstand whatever is thrown at you when it is thrown at you.

And to those who peddle it and stir people up..why are you spreading fear instead of truth?

What "TEAM" are YOU on, boys and Girls?
