    that Romney has been unable to run on anything relevant to his past: his business record, his religion, and his governorship.

    He can't talk about his governorship because of Romneycare, which angers his tea party base.

    He can't talk about his religion because he'd lose Christian Right support.

    And he can't talk about his business record because of the narrative discussed in this piece.

    That left Romney with literally nothing to talk about, because he has no compelling personal story. He was born rich and powerful, and, uh, some stuff happened that we can't talk about, and then he ran for president.
