    start of debate season.

    This election is now down to two 3 week phases:  debate season, and the final mad dash to election day.

    Obama will play it safe during debate season in terms of ad spend, sticking to the key battlegrounds that get him to 270 EVs - 320 EVs.  

    During the 3rd week of October, following the 3rd debate, the Obama team will assess the polls and the relative money situation of both campaigns.  NC will get a lot of extra money and attention in the final 3 weeks assuming the polls hold more or less steady.  After that, he is going to focus on turnout in key states.  Obama may add AZ if his internal polls still show him with a slight lead.  He may also run national ads during the final 3 weeks to boost interest and turnout in other states which could yield a positive impact for downticket races.
