to thank you for this.  Sometimes it makes me crazy when the things that Gingrich says are allowed to slide by, as though they were dog whistles and not out-and-out explicit racism.  I think, I can't be the only one who notices that Gingrich is channeling the ghost of Theodore Bilbo.

    •  Gingrich certainly is blatant in his racism. And (0+ / 0-)

the thing that's equally disturbing to me is the level of attention he can still command.  Why does any media listen to, interview, or print comments from this disreputable has-been, or treat his opinions with respect?

Though the Republican primary this year was a clown show, I suppose the media has an obligation to cover all of the contenders.  But that's over; and Newt has little standing left anywhere.  He should have none at all.

We can vent by writing hundreds of comments on how dispicable Newt is (and it's all true).  But I think the more important point is that whenever a diary quotes Newt's offensiveness, there should be an "action item" suggestion.  A lot of us should contact the newspaper/radio/TV show or whatever involved, and ask why they're giving a platform to this racist liar.
