      land line, or a cellphone. Mine is a Tracphone. If I am stuck somewhere, need to call the disabled transportation service, or a taxi$$$$, the phone is very useful. There are some places difficult to get reception.

      No pictures, some texting capability, voice mail does not work. Numbers can be stored. It has an alarm clock function.

      I have dialup for $141 a year. My landline service does not charge by the minute.

      My personal computer is limited, can't post without tagging on. Community computer better. Pardon tagging to comments, spelling, please.

      It's a basic functionality of cellular networks, and I have sent and received texts (and used data on my smart phone too) in places that would make Bumfuck Egypt look like New York City.

      It's probably more of a matter of rules/regulations determining if you get text or not.
