  •  Fits with how they regard their religion, (0+ / 0-)

it's 100% true to the letter, and if they don't keep believing that literal interpretation they believe they will lose all faith and be damned to hell.

So yes, you are afraid to admit to any other type of person, or view. You HAVE to toe the line exactly!

    •  On the contrary, extremists often don't toe (0+ / 0-)

      the line.

Religion is one of the biggest examples. There are millions of people out there who would happily throw all gays in jail for not obeying a Biblical law...

....while breaking half the Ten Commandments themselves on a regular basis.  Very few of our Bible thumpers down here in Texas stay home on the Sabbath. That's their fishing, hunting and boating day.

Even though, per the Bible, to work or travel on the Sabbath is a stoning offence.

It's not the sin that bothers them. It's the departure from how they live, what they say, what they do, what they value.

Trying going to a high school football game here on Friday night and saying that football is silly.

You'd better be able to run very, very fast.

But this attitude is truly universal. Intolerant people are intolerant people.

Freedom has two enemies: Those who want to control everyone around them...and those who feel no need to control themselves.

      •  Not what I was saying. But ok. (0+ / 0-)

I said they believe in it --dogmatically I meant.

I did not say they "toe the line." I grew up in a church full of hypocrites so believe me, I know.

You HAVE to toe the line exactly!
And by "you" it sure looks like you meant "them."

          •  I did mean them, but not toeing line as you (0+ / 0-)

are taking it. I was talking about theology and belief, not in how they lived their lives.
