Other states'; voting procedures. You're clearly one of the heroes of the system. But it's also odd that voting is so different in so many places. I know it's highly unlikely in these states-rights times, but shouldn't we have a nationally standardized way of voting?

by Federal election law is use of paper ballots.  In non-presidential primary & general elections, paper ballots are only to be used for provisional voters - folks who don't have sufficient I.D., have moved, changed their names, etc.

In presidential years, both primary and general elections, we must allow anyone who requests one to vote a paper ballot.  We have to track those ballots differently than the provisional voters ballots.

At least in my county, in Ohio.

There are uniform laws for federal elections--specifically nationwide (only the POTUS and VPOTUS). For example, california has a new "top 2" primary system for all statewide elections. The top two vote-getters, regardless of party, go through to the general. That means the primary ballot had two sets of rules on one ballot. Now THAT'S confusing. Amazingly, though, not one voter questioned it all day.
