and grew up going to Texas schools. I tend to make up my own words at times. Sometimes they work. I've also been told I have an odd 'typing/conversating/diarying' style in the way I string words together and what not. Not sure if its a compliment or not haha. I can change it to whichever you think would be more fitting.

    •  I think "defamatory" is the word you're (4+ / 0-)

looking for.  Also, change sp of "outrageous", and you're good to go.

    •  that's no excuse (4+ / 0-)

i grew up in texas and the schools were just fine.  sure there are problems but we have libraries you know.  the textbooks might not have been that great but if you went to the library, you could find out the truth.

if you tried hard, show up and practiced what you were taught, you had the same opportunity as somebody in NY or CA.

Everyone looks down on us Texans for our 'bushisms'.

I noticed you did not use proper capitalization, punctuation or sentence structure, so we must have gone to the same school ;).

Nothing against you personally, I tend to like everyone at DKOS, ever those who nitpick my comments.

But just because you grew up in Texas and went to a fine school, does not mean all Texas schools are fine. I actually went to a very good school in rural west Texas and it is one of the best in the state to be honest.

        •  ha, i went to public school (0+ / 0-)

in the poor part of the city.

not sure how it is now, since that was a long time ago, but back then the library was where the books were.

that's how i learned the true story of native americans.

comments on a blog aren't meant to be formal.  however, i would expect a diary which is now more like a news story, to be more formal.

          •  I guess that is my (0+ / 0-)

main problem. I tend to write 'diaries' (informal or snarky) thoughts on any given subject that I stumble upon acoss the internets, with some links and sourcing for further analysis for those who want it. I do not always take the more refined approach to writing. Just kind of let things spill out, and sometimes in retrospect that could have been better proofed.

I love discussion and reading DKOS thoughts on subjects, because the comment boards on most any other website make me sad for humanity.

Oddly enough when I write more 'News Story' headlines with far more important original content those get buried. Dailykos is a funny place :).

            •  i would recommend trying to be formal (0+ / 0-)

in the diary, unless it's a fun piece, not meant to be serious.

do whatever in comments but your stories should follow normal writing standards.

i learned about my family history a while back.  turns out my family moved from the north to the south before the civil war for the main purpose of keeping their slaves.

they also took (paid for?) native american wives.
