    ;)

Hadn't checked until recently...but for the MLB playoffs...this is the 'genius' of Bud Selig at work:

"The two wild cards from each league will face each other in a one-game playoff, with the winners moving on to the Division Series against the team with the best record. Under the new format, it does not matter if the two teams facing each other in this round are from the same division.

Previously, it made little difference if a team entered the postseason as a wild card or a division winner. But now, teams that win their division will have the safety of a five-game series to defeat their first opponent, while wild card teams must lay their season on the line in one game."

Ok, I'm rooting for the A's, O's, and Giants. The Giants have won the NL West. The A's look a lock for one of the AL's wild card spots. The Yankees and the O's are tied for first in the AL East with 3 games left.

Now, as a marketing person at MLB...with the possibility that the Yankees might not win the division... Stupid, stupid, stupid. And just like when Tebow led the 7-9 Broncos into the playoffs...you will probably wind up with a second place team with 100 wins facing a team with only 80 wins...and losing the one game.

Won't even go into how annoying the changes were to not have Opening Day on a Monday in April and the last day of the season on a Wed now rather than on Sunday.

And, even after all of that...they still have the first round of the playoff as only a 5-game series.

What's that quote about that even the idiots who run baseball can't ruin the game...or something like that. Can we chip in to send Bud back to Milwaukee?

And yes, if the A's win today they'd be within one game of Texas...and the last 3 games of the season...area at home...against Texas... So hey, maybe it will be Texas against NY in the one-game playoff. Bush's old team vs Steinbrenner's old team....hmmmm.... ;)
