  •  It's not a question of the president's "guts", or (1+ / 0-)

have you forgotten the battle to get the ACA passed?

It's having politicians who only want to make the rich richer in office, aka Republicans.

    Great post, xajax.

    •  Part of it is guts (0+ / 0-)

Sometimes Obama can be reasonable, fair and cautious to the point of inaction. For example, he was cautiously waffling on LBGT rights until Biden, who is more inclined to trust his gut, "spoke out of turn" forcing Obama to finally stake a position and stick to it, which had a good outcome.

Another example is healthcare reform; had he staked a stronger position and defended it to begin with, the outcome might have been better.

I hope this is lesson learned. In fact, Obama has many great ideas and solid values, I hope he can trust in that a bit more and go to the public to make his case on difficult issues when necessary; seems the public is more inclined toward action and more willing to take risk in uncharted territory than Congress, I guess because we have the job for life and answer directly to ourselves and families rather than lobbyists.

I disagree. I think it's an excellent start.

The Rs may have co-opted this, but I do believe in individual responsibility to create a more just and compassionate society.

'Jesus is busy, save yourself' applies to life in general, imo.
