  •  Mitt's going to get clobbered. (17+ / 0-)

He can't stand to be challenged. He starts in with the "My friend" crap and his sentence structure falls apart.

As for Obama, I remember watching the first debate with McCain and I was scared. I wanted this "kid" to win, but geez, he was going up against a senior senator, a war hero, a grand old man of the Grand Old Party.

The debate started. McCain was very patronizing, but Obama didn't let that bother him a bit. He stayed on message and he was prepared. I remember when McCain tugged at that military bracelet he'd been given by a mother who'd had her son die in Iraq, and said that she'd told him "Stay the course. Make sure my son didn't die in vain.

Holy hell, how was Obama going to counter that?

“I’ve got a bracelet, too,” Mr. Obama said. “From the mother of Sergeant Ryan David Jopek, given to me in Green Bay, and she asked me, ‘Can you please make sure another mother doesn’t go through what I am going through?’”
McCain looked as though he'd been bludgeoned and I thought "This guys's going to win!"

Freedom has two enemies: Those who want to control everyone around them...and those who feel no need to control themselves.

McCain was patronizing indeed. Do you remember all his name dropping ?

McCain was giving us platitudes and was talking about tactics. Barack Obama was talking in a much more holistic and strategic way. It was so obvious he had a much better understanding of all the geo-political challenges of the 21st century. I was VERY impressed.
