  •  not just a street fighter, (17+ / 0-)

he's someone who understands how Washington works (or doesn't) and knows which buttons to push when, utilizing a wealth of experience.

Getting loud and in someone's face isn't always the best way to resolve an issue in your favor. I think Harry's been playing a rather longer game than some give him credit for.

    •  Harry let the filibuster scandal go on, (0+ / 0-)

without aiming the spotlight, every day if possible, on GOP efforts to obstruct. He refused to make filibusters something real rather than executed with a wave of the hand. At any time, he could have decided to not honor McConnell's filibusters by making the GOP work at the podium and actually filibuster.
He could have slammed the GOP with every effort to obstruct. He could have made them suffer for their obstructions. He didn't and he still doesn't.

This problem makes Reid look like a GOP collaborator rather than an adversary.

that from his insider vantage point, he knew things about what was going on below the surface that those on the outside, who get their "news" from the networks, didn't.

On a lot of these situations, I try to remember that what we see as news consumers is likely only a portion of all the information and corss-currents and conflicting stories at play at any given time.
