The diarist said Republicans are better, and this diary is going to cost the president the election. You really believe that.

helpful this close to an election. If you do find it helpful, good for you. Different opinions.

    •  What purpose tho does it serve to post a diary (0+ / 0-)

like this at this point in time? I don't think it's an attempt by the diarist to gn up a threat to not vote for Obama just over a month before the election tho there is not shortage of Kossacks who would love nothing more.

It IS speculative. And I'm sure the diarist felt compelled to write about his and Krugman's speculation, felt a need to just share what he's thinking. Buit does it help GOTV efforts? Not one iota. It just gives certain folks in this community a sense of validation and a reason to stay home in an election where despite current favorable polls we need everyone to vote.

This diary, in a nutshell, asks "Is there any point in re-electing the president if he's just going to screw us over?" Just. Not. Helpful. Unless the goal is to give certain folks around here an excuse to double down on doubt.

      •  maybe this will illustrate it; (13+ / 0-)

        teacherken's conclusion;

        Read the Krugman.

        Pass it on -

        -  to any Member of the current House or of the United States Senate that you know.

Let them know you will be watching.

That in voting for Obama and for as many Democrats as we can get into the forthcoming Congress, we are not validating the "Grand Bargain" and we do not accept Simpson-Bowles.

        seems clear to me.
Don't just blindly send money or vote.
Attach a message to your support.
Demand that your vote or donation be honored in its spirit.
Make demands of your representatives proactively.

        Quite valuable, imo.

      •  All he has to say is that he will veto any cuts (0+ / 0-)

In Social Security or Medicare benefits.

        •  Also raising the age, worsening COL (0+ / 0-)

Raising the age is a fifteen percent cut, and the Cost of Living adjustment already seriously lags the real changes in cost of living.

They're proposing to both raise the age of retirement and to make the COL lag further - to save money for government - by starving seniors.
