  •  Few things more infuriating in today's (9+ / 0-)

political environment than listening to beltway hosebags continue to prattle on in fake panick-stricken tones about how we're going off a fiscal cliff unless we cut entitlement programs (and maybe a couple of defense and discretionary programs as well as raise taxes on the rich just a wee bit so we don't look too mean-spirited and can genuinely claim to have forced everyone to "share" the sacrifice), while REAL, ACTUAL economists with stellar reputations (like, you know, Nobel Prizes) keep insisting that we are NOT going off a cliff and DO NOT need to take such unfair measures. I know that some people believe that these gasbags say these things because they're paid to say them, and there's certainly some truth in that. But I suspect that most of them are simply too stupid to know any better, and too cowardly to go against the herd. It's like the sixth grade teacher who sent you and the bully who sucker-punched you to the principal's office because you had the stones to defend yourself and punched back, claiming that it didn't matter who started it. Well you know what? It DID matter and it still does.

We're punching back, Villagers, and we're going to leave you bleeding.

    Metaphorically, of course.
