  •  This points up the Democrats' biggest problem (8+ / 0-)

The Democratic Party has made its biggest "successes" in the last 30 years by stealing the ground from Republicans.  They've co-opted Republicans who served in Reagan's cabinet (Webb) and Republicans who served in George W. Bush's cabinet (Carmona).  And as the Republicans go over the far right cliff, Democrats continue to drift ever closer to the edge — all the while betraying the principles and the people who built the Democratic coalition.

This is not forward-thinking politics;  this is nothing but poaching.  Despite his party affiliation, a few short years ago Bernie Sanders would have been solidly in the middle of the Democratic Party.  Today the Party has moved so far right that his ilk has been completely marginalized — within the party.  The ever-rightward lurch of the Democrats has been disastrous for the nation, as there's no political force capable of opposing the madness.

Shirley Chisholm was right. Our Republic is in deep trouble.
