    alone. Those of us who remember that election and the years since ... Goddamn, we survived this! I mean, it's shocking what we have lived through. I was so full of hope back then and the world was such a different place. I am not naive. I believe the neo-con shift clearly came out of the corporate-business-political culture of the 70's, but what happened after that election and what we have now ... It is still like a dystopian science fiction novel to me.

      and I played them Randy Newman's great song about the Cuyahoga River burning.  Great archive, and the first picture (no fooling) as the John Amos power plant just about 35 miles from here- picture taken in 1973.  http://www.theatlantic.com/...

        the burning of the Cuyahoga River was in some ways, Peak Pollution.  So thinking about how much better things can become should inspire us to keep on pushing for things to become better.
