    I'm no Halprin fan at all; he's the embodiment of the right end of right-center beltway conventional purported wisdom that's too often more like conventional idiocy.  However, even to this firmly progressive reader of Halprin's comment, the reference to "Tom Friedman primary" is at the same time an intentional snarky remark about Friedman for pretty much the same reasons we progressives have a running snark about Friedman, but also a valid point that if Romney's completely lost any support from Friedman's muddled let's take-the-best-from-both-sides centrism...then Mitt must be in deep trouble with most of the village as well.  The "village CW" is the "primary" Halprin was snarkily referring to, even though I doubt Halprin appreciated the ironic way it self-deprecatingly wrapped around his own self as well.
