Some folks take it seriously enough to be in it for the long hall. They know the rest of us will show up from time to time when we need to get out of the way of the trickle.

I have doubts they can get enough media on their issues during the election frenzy but damn they're needed. I hope they can crank up immediatly after the election or the lame duck session is going to go bad for us.

in several ways to an extent.  That may be recoverable with time.  A friend who was a very active occupier concluded that the fatal flaw was the General Assembly concept which in his view increasingly made coherence and focus of purpose impossible (especially as more and more Paulistas and anarchists participated).  I suspect he's largely correct.

what the GA's floated, of course. Indeed, chaos is guaranteed to be the end result on nearly all issues. I have hope, nonetheless, that this is something that will ultimately be recognized. It would address the issue of the truly fringe "participants" such as those you mention, who really have no stake in working for the advancement of all.
On the flip side of that, there will always be provocateurs in any largely democratized collective; a way would have be to found to marginalize, contain, and defuse them.
