The first two are the perspective of an economist. The second two segments are by an historian of money and its role in the economy.

Randy Wray is not entirely correct when he accuses Obama of lying about the state of the treasury because, like the states, the executive is constrained by the self-imposed limitations of the Congress.

He's also not very good in answering why the Congress persists in promoting an agenda of sacrifice and deprivation. I'd say it's because it makes them feel powerful to have the fate of Americans in their hands. A goodly number of our representatives simply aren't keen on being public servants.

The Republican strategy was to create staggering debt, which would 'starve the social programs' and make them look unaffordable.  This is exactly what happened during these two unnecessary and cruel unfunded wars.  And where did the bulk of the borrowed military funding go to?  Straight to private military contractors and the Military-Industrial complex that Eisenhower warned us about.

We have GOT to reinstate a progressive tax structure and quit subsidizing corporations that are outsourcing American jobs and trashing our planet's eco-system.

Austerity proposals and the fiscal-cliff were manufactured by design, to promote the conservative/1% agenda of privatizing government to increase corporate profits.

GOTV GOTV GOTV - and then hold the President and Congress accountable to the people.

We're ALL better off when we're ALL better off!

Everyone everywhere. It costs big money to buy the machines and reprogram them for every election, the part I think people seem to forget about. I would count votes for free, but it turns out our town's election budget includes paying us for our time spent- a pittance compared to the machines, especially when you get guaranteed cross-column 100% accuracy when you hand-count it. The major expense appears to be the printed paper ballots, but the opti-machines still require printing too...
