    the act of eating together. Food is one of the essentials of life. Eating together means something.

    I went to college in the south. I grew up in the south.

    I've joked around with gay and (closeted) trans friends over a meal of Chick-Fil-A food. Multiple times.

    And the whole time, because I didn't know about the donations themselves, I was hurting the people I was eating with.

    That's deeply offensive to my own sense of hospitality and what friendship is, and it's going to take a long time before I'd consider eating there again even if they did a corporate 180 tomorrow.
