in the site breathlessly reccing up something that may turn out not to be true?

In any case... Krugman in the White House? Does that seem plausible, given a) the economic team that Obama has been working with in his first term, and b) the fact that we're one month out from the election, and the right would have a field day with the announcement of a prospective "NY Times librul" appointment in the next Obama administration?

The writer is an anonymous nobody. This is a site on the internet where anonymous nobodies can post basically whatever they want. I don't see a need for a vigilante posse to zap most of the stories because they are opinion rather than fact verified by outside fact-checkers before publishing.

      •  how is this a "vigilante posse"? (7+ / 0-)

People doubt that "a well-placed source close to the highest levels of The White House" told a homeless man in Toronto about the President's plans for Cabinet appointments in a (still-hypothetical) 2nd term, and you call them vigilantes?

        Please.

      •  Hey, people are entitled to post whatever (9+ / 0-)

"breaking" diaries they want. "Breaking! Hillary Clinton running as write-in third-party candidate!" "Breaking! Obama to unveil New New Deal at presidential debate!" "Breaking! Credulous Kossack not taken in by breathless 'breaking news' diary, for once!"

It's just... the people that rec them up? They shouldn't do that.

To be absolutely clear, I'm not censoring anything; I'm not "zapping" anybody; I'm not rustlin' me up a "vigilante posse."

I'm just suggesting gently that people should hold off on clicking that little orange star at the bottom of the page. At least until they mull over the veracity of the diary's claims.
