  •  According to Sam Wang, only the first debate seems (10+ / 0-)

    to matter much.

The bottom line: the first debate can drive opinion by the equivalent of several percentage points of popular vote margin.
That said, here was his reaction to debate #1:
Seems like Romney did ok. Landed some good punches, didn’t look like he was circling the drain. Obama was more natural and got off a few…zingers.

But it’s not enough to change anything. I suspect the race will stay where it is now, maybe narrow by a point. Stalemate. Which is not what Romney’s party needed.

Even a partial victory will be pyrrhic.

Happy little moron, Lucky little man.

Seriously, what else could Mitt have done tonight?

We all wanted to see a knife fight, but Obama did something different.

It doesn't take rocket science to know Romney would come out like this, or what he'd say.  Sure " Trickle-down government" was cute... But we partisans saw a different fight than the undecided electorate.  Also, there are more debates... Romney will have to live with what he's said.

Expect Biden to start the counterpunch next week... After intensive ad placement showing mitt vs. mitt.

Happy little moron, Lucky little man.
