I am absolutely confident in an Obama win on Nov. 6. This debate does not change a lot. The race remains Obama's to lose. But there is a balance somewhere between "this is all going according to plan," and "this is all going straight to hell." In virtually every example where there's evidence to suggest he played a 'long game' as opposed to recovering from his mistakes well, he didn't get an outright loss initially, at least not while a large amount of the non-junkies were looking.

silliness of your post.  You have an elegant way of retreating from an inelegant choice of words, silly cliches notwithtanding.  Kuddos!

I was a debate nerd in HS and college and understand reticence  in drawing out your opponent.  I stand by my assessment of Obama's performance.  He didn't care if he "won" this first debate.  He accomplished what he set out to do this go round: "flush out the grouse".

      •  No, I stand by 'blowout.' (0+ / 0-)

He was pretty much blown up in this debate.

However, in the grand scheme of things, debates are almost never substantial. Ergo, I'm not worried. But yes, Romney delivered Obama a trouncing on this debate, and it would have been absolutely possible to come at it sounding more prepared.

He was no less deliberative in the second half of the debate, but he was much, much more comfortable talking health care than economy by a large margin.

          Cheers!
