Doesn't matter that he sucks.  Doesn't matter that he makes stuff up.  Obama didn't show up.  Romney, effectively, won by default.

    •  Punitive against the President. Romney didn't win. (1+ / 0-)

If you say Obama won and the public perception (not just of our media--but several international and unbiased outlets such as the guardian) is that Romney won--  where does this get you?

This isn't debate team--this is a 21st century big-media debate.  If you're show more energy, preparation and presence than the opponent, you win.  That's it.  The fact that Romney may have used more spin, or made more things up, isn't the issue here--this isn't academia.

People are better off if they face reality rather than retreating to their own echo chamber.  THAT'S what's going to win us the election--not making things up that we want to hear.

        •  The fact Romney made things up doesn't matter? (0+ / 0-)

Arguments have to make sense in a debate.

          •  they did make sense. Do you think the public (0+ / 0-)

are a bunch of wonks?  Do you think fact-checkers have an audience other than...say...us and our counterparts on the right?

Look--if a used car salesman sells cars, you can't go around saying 'well,  he wasn't honest, so the cars weren't really sold'.

He skipped specifics--but he sold the idea.   For this kind of 'debate', which isn't really a classic 'debate', it was a win.

            •  Ok, I understand, Romney sold you the idea. (0+ / 0-)
              •  er..no. Romney sold the public on style, which (0+ / 0-)

is why the public sees it as a victory.  Public perception is what matters in this style of debate, unfortunately.  What I know to be the actual truth really doesn't make a damn bit of difference.
