...or all you really busy tossing wet blankets on almost any diary that is mildly positive about the debate. Not only that, your wet blankets are incomplete with respect to facts and impact. You seem to be an Obama supporter until an opportunity is presented where you can go all negative on him.

and threw everything he was campaigning on under the bus.  He even admitted he doesn't have a tax plan when he said he would achieve consensus similar to how he achieved consensus on romneycare.  So his plan is 'get me 20% tax reductions and everyone agree', and the numbers don't add up to his statements about no net increases on anyone.....

and their contempt for the Latin schools was applauded by Theodoric himself, who gratified their prejudices, or his own, by declaring that the child who had trembled at a rod would never dare to look upon a sword.

This was the first time I've seen Romney debate. I've read some of his interviews  (parade, the AARP magazine), & if I hadn't thought about what he said, I would have thought he was being a very moderate candidate.

Romney's willingness to say anything to anyone to be elected can't help but throw anyone but the most savvy debater off balance. If Obama, as some on DK have pointed out, is not a strong formal debater, he may have decided the best thing to do was to feed Romney rope, get him on tv lying his butt off, then hang him with his own words. (The success with that tactic depends on what Obama does in the next debate. If he lets Romney lie without challenging him, Romney has a chance for a last inning turn-around.)

Obama's other tactic would be to hope that his gaffes -- such as the "kill Big Bird" line -- will do to Romney what he could not do. If the fact Romney would defund PBS to save pennies while refusing to increase revenues doesn't dominate everything else Romney said, this first debate may keep Romney competitive.
