  •  The OBL raid was small potatoes..... (19+ / 0-)

....compared to the prospect and ramifications of NATO going to war against Syria.

A catastrophic failure during the OBL raid would have been very, very bad. But the consequences would have been localized and relatively easy to contain.

A catastrophic failure in the case of a NATO war with Syria would be a disaster of global proportions that are impossible to contain.

    •  No doubt the conflict was on his mind... (6+ / 0-)

But there was something else going on last night. Either he was exhausted from too much campaigning or he took bad advice from the people around him to lay off on Romney. He didn't even raise an eyebrow at the $716 billion dollar lie.

They might have thought they'd give Romney enough rope to hang himself. And he probably would have done just that if a moderator had actually showed up.

No matter. What's done is done. He'll make up for it at the next debate.

... Jim Lehrer, probably hoping for some semblance of order to be brought into the event. Romney kept dictating the debate rules to the moderator - "No, he said something, now I get to reply." Lehrer should have shut him down, but he kept treating the debate as though it were a two-headed interview, trying to get the debaters to agree upon where they disagreed.

That said, I did get the strong impression that something else was distracting both of the Obamas last night.
