  •  Oh please. "reputations" be damned. (0+ / 0-)

Rasmussen is a Republican front, and yet manages to get quoted LOTS, including on DK.

If anyone can demonstrate that Rasmussen fakes their data or results, that would be a mitzvah -- assuming, of course, that it is true.

Regardless, your opinions about Rasmussen don't constitute any kind of evidence about CNN or ORC. What about Rasmussen's reputation? Here is one take from August 2010:

There isn’t a lot of consensus in Washington, D.C., but party operatives on both sides of the aisle as well as members of the media seem to be united in their distrust of polls conducted by Rasmussen Reports.
The article poses the question, "Is Rasmussen Better Than its Reputation," which may be a good question, but tends to make my point.

In contrast, when Nate Silver posted house effect estimates back in June, CNN/ORC had the smallest. That doesn't necessarily mean that ORC is materially better than other pollsters, or even more accurate. But it's hard to understand why we would relegate them to hell because their snap poll reached too many people over age 49. I mean, seriously?

Election protection: there's an app for that!
