  •  Why Republicans haat Big Bird (11+ / 0-)

He teaches children (at a dangerously  impressionable age!) to care for others as they care for themselves, to be kind to them. He also teacges them also how to think which means they won't be fooled into voting Republican..

Many of these children are economically disadvataged, and would not have the opportunity to learn these things if not for Sesame Street, Public Broadcasting.and the like. Koch Brothers don't sponsor any such programming nor such values.

Republicans oppose all of tthe above because these values are opposed to  the ignorance, hatred and malice that are Republicanism.

Don't let millionaires steal Social Security.

    •  Actually it's literacy (7+ / 0-)

Kindness is definitely part of Sesame Street, but the overarching goal is literacy.  For years, this may have been the only pre-school literacy education that lower income kids received. Now with the prevalance of cable and videos, it may have a lessened effect.  Still, it is vitally important.  Getting rid of PBS is like getting rid of healthy school lunches for Republicans.  Junk kids TV, junk kids meals, etc. - the Republican vision for low income children.
