  •  I don't think romney "won," just because Obama (11+ / 0-)

    didn't fight back.

Sure, I wish Obama had eviscerated romney. But while I can't say Obama did well in this debate, I can't call it a win for romney. romney just spewed a whole bunch of bullshit which will come back to haunt him in ads like this:

and Obama is already hammering romney in rallies (albeit in his soft-spoken way):

As far as I'm concerned, romney disqualified himself by lying about his own positions.

    from a NY Times editorial...

Virtually every time Mr. Romney spoke, he misrepresented the platform on which he and Paul Ryan are actually running. The most prominent example, taking up the first half-hour of the debate, was on taxes. Mr. Romney claimed, against considerable evidence, that he had no intention of cutting taxes on the rich or enacting a tax cut that would increase the deficit.
Perhaps I'm too sheltered living in the Bay Area, but it bothers me to read everybody saying romney won, when all he did was lie.

I imagine Obama will get "fired-up" in the next debate, which is in a town-hall meeting format. Hopefully the whole country will be tuned in to watch him trounce his lying opponent.

    •  that bothers me a lot, too (4+ / 0-)

Considering the fact that the cuts to social programs that Romney wants to make are very real, and would be very devatating to the elderly, the poor and the disabled.

Not to mention the fact that Mitt wants to take a way my Medicare.

He could be the best debater in the world and win billions of debates and I wouldn't vote for the asshole in a million years.

    •  Romney won on style, not on substance (2+ / 0-)

Since the news media has long proven itself incapable of judging substance, it has nothing but an eye on style.  And in that department, Romney had more 'style' than Obama.

Then again, sociopaths are well-known for their ability to sound persuasive with a river of bullshit, and Romney is a well-known sociopath.

Conservatives need to realize that their Silent Moral Majority is neither silent, nor moral, nor a majority.
