If there is a heaven, and if I get to go there, it will be because I've been loved by cats.  Otherwise, how would I ever get in?

There is a special place for those who love and care for these furry miracles.  And there is a special ring of hell for those who would abuse, neglect, or abandon such special, wondrous creatures.  (Obviously, this applies to all the furry, feathered or leathery critters we have as companions.)

You have my heartfelt admiration for what you do.  As I've said to others who are beloved by cats, the only sad part is that they don't live longer.  But it is, perhaps, the wisdom of the Universe that makes it work that way.  Once we prove that we are worthy of them, the cats we are meant to cherish find their way to us.  They leave us early so others may have us.

My rule is: never take on more cats than you can care for well.  For every animal who has become part of my home, the oath is the same:  I will love and care for you to the best of my ability, all the days of your life.  And when the time comes, I will let you go with dignity and with as little pain as possible.

I wish you and Clide well.

We cannot call ourselves a civilised society if we refuse to protect the weakest among us.
