I am surprised that anyone would be surprised that Team Obama would use Romney's lying words against him, soon after the debate. On MSNBC, Plouffe told Rachel and the gang that they were going to include the debate in the broader story cycle and get the facts out pronto.

Per President Obama, it is clear that he came in expecting to debate differences on taxes, medicare etc. Romney won the night by denying the differences and then attacking obama for everything under the sun. Gas prices are up, coal consumption and ITS ALL YOUR FAULT.

In hindsight, I think it will prove to have been a wise move for Obama to take the gracious route rather than going all "Ed Schultz."

More people will see these ads than ever see the debates.

Romney won the battle but I believe that this Pyhrric victory will further aid in his losing the bigger war (election).

That's why he was rocked back a bit.  He couldn't believe that Romney would lie like that.

But guess what?  Dude has no where to go now...

But to the Cayman Isles on November 7th.

      Excellent observation.

    •  Another fact check. Summer of '08, gas (5+ / 0-)

was $4/gallon in Atlanta metro. Today they are around $3.50.

      •  Again, the mendacity about gas prices (3+ / 0-)

Romney included the "gas prices are double what they were when you became president" line in the debate, which I'd previously heard in his convention speech. What a mendacious bastard he is. Gas prices (along with so many things) crashed in the fall of 2008 after reaching their $4-plus peak during summer; after election day they continued to fall, reaching less than $2 per gallon by inauguration day. It's a prime example of a technically correct falsehood.

We need more reports pointing out this obvious twisting of the truth, such as this one from CBS back in March: www.cbsnews.com/8301-3460_162-57401650/face-the-facts-a-fact-check-on-gas-prices.
