Sununu's only value to the right is to get under the skin of people like you.  He won't persuade anyone.  What will persuade people who are uncertain is a bunch of activists screaming that the POTUS is the victim of racism - normal folks think that is ridiculous.  THAT is Sununu's goal.  Yes, he is vile and YES it is best to just ignore him.  Like Cheney, if ignored, he is simply a negative for his side.

There is a reason he is being used as a surrogate, and it isn't his charm, wit or good-looks. He's willing to sling the slimiest of the mud, and there is a HUGE receptive audience for that!

    •  Calling out racism is NOT saying POTUS is a victim (12+ / 0-)

      of racism.

Calling out racism is calling out racism for what it is: RACISM. Do you think POTUS gives a flying fuck about John Sununu? No. But Sununu is a Romney campaign surrogate, speaking on Mitt's behalf, and he has used this 'lazy' descriptor for the POTUS multiple times now. It is no accident.

      •  Right (0+ / 0-)

what he is trying to do is to get you to run around like a chicken with your head cut off yelling race race -- when you could be talking about Big Bird.

I'm for Big Bird.  Sununo is best ignored.

...running around like a chicken with your head cut off yelling race race?

Your comments throughout this thread have been thoughtless and offensive and they nearly define the obliviousness about racism exhibited by so many in this country.

I think we can chew gum and walk at the same time.  Stop being insulting.

but there is a tremendous amount of racism directed at the president and it's not subtle in the least. Independent/undecided voters are not going to be turned off by people talking about racism. Romney's base is, and Obama's not getting their vote anyway.

The founding fathers knew of the mutually corrupting influences of Church and state, wisely sending them to opposite corners.

    •  Yep (0+ / 0-)

Too many people are taking the bait here. If the focus is on Sununu, we lose. Focus on Romney and getting on on his positions and his record.

    •  the other "value" (0+ / 0-)

As long as Mr. Sununu and others like him have a public platform, they can perpetuate the lies and stereotypes that have been so damaging to our society.

Not only does this vile talk reinforce the biases held by certain adults, but it also educates and poisons the minds of very young children who happen to be exposed to it.

Thus, the other value of Mr. Sununu's comments is to keep the tensions alive; as Lindsay Graham moaned recently, the Republicans are running out of "angry old white men" and it is in the party's interest to keep the irrational hatred alive.
