  •  yes and no. I think it could be argued (4+ / 0-)

that the biggest damage would be relatively immediate.

You either saw the debate and it changed your mind or not. I don't think a week later many people are going to suddenly say: yanno, come to think of it, that debate last week really made me think about changing who I was going to support.

it's like an accident scene. get witnesses statements while they're still fresh.

we'll see. and I understand your point. But i think the effect might be more diluted the further you get from the "explosion".

For the record, I am not a member of Courtesy Kos. Just so you know. Don't be stupid. It's election season. My patience is short.

(Or perhaps a good one, that actually leads tp the opposite conclusion)

A witness statement can be used in rehearsing testimony, or to bulster or undermine a witness's testimony, but what actually matters is what the witness testifies to at trial.

Here, what matters isn't necessarily what viewers thought of the debate, but what the debate means to them when they vote. And that meaning will be determined, in part, by media coverage of the debate and conversations about the debate with friends, family, and colleagues. Remember, the coverage of the debate has the potential to impact people who didn't actually watch it, and than undecided and persuadable voters tend to be low information voters who are more likely to have skipped the debate than partisan, high-information voters.

but will hear the media spin might still be influenced by that. Then there might be the following discussions with F&F that will help make up their minds one way or another. I don't know about a week, but I'd say 3 days wait period to see what shakes out.

Of course, after that, there is the day-to-day stuff all the way to Nov 6 which is when some people will actually decide.
