    and I'm sure the ONE archives will be helpful for that.  I'm sorry I didn't get to LA until 1980,  and that I didn't know I'd want to know stuff for a couple of decades after that.

      I didn't know I'd want to know stuff for a couple of decades after that.
      I so wish I had had the nerve to actually go into the gay bar St. Charles Tavern on Younge St in Toronto in 1970 as an undergraduate and get involved in the University of Toronto Homophile Association at the same time - they've installed a plaque for that historic organization. The fascinating people I'd have met and the stories I could now tell! Alas, I was still desperate to be straight in those days.

        I wish I'd had the nerve to attend meetings of Stony Brook's first gay discussion group, which formed only a few months after Stonewall, and that I'd had the nerve to visit a nearby bar with some friends before I graduated in 1973. I didn't begin to come out until after that time even though I already had gay friends by then. In the meantime I still had a girlfriend.

        I don't suppose there's much to be done to change the past.
