    but its relevant here as well.

    unfortunately, gaming has a lingering stigma of being the realm of socially inept nerds who cannot handle real life and seek to escape into fantasy. Those people exist, but in the last decade they have become an increasingly smaller part of the community. I'v been gaming with the same general group of people for the past eight years, most of whom I originally met in WoW, but we have since moved on to other games online and off. The men and women I play with are all post-college adults who have jobs and families, some of them play together as a family. These are normal people like any other. The game stereotype is tragically outdated. Turns out most of us grew up into productive members of society after all.

    Why is my hobby of challenging team-based competition and problem solving less legitimate because it involves sitting at a computer and participating instead on sitting on a couch and watching someone else participate (i.e. most american's relationship to football). I'v nothing against sports enthusiasts, but it does get old to be derided for my hobby.
