  •  I agree. (12+ / 0-)

This diary is completely misleading and should be deleted POST HASTE!

Nothing worth noting at the moment.

    •  You're funny, Bonsai66 (9+ / 0-)

Besides, our Canadian friend is (mostly) wrong.  Last night's sample had to be at least slightly better than the sample 7 days ago that rolled off.  The caveat in that observation is that we are talking about VERY small samples which are volatile for completely random reasons.  Which is why Gallup publishes a 7-day average and not day-by-day.

I agree that yesterday's sample was better than Sept 27th.  But we have no idea what the Sept 27 sample looks like.  Could be good.  Could be average.  Could be terrible.

And you should reread your third sentence. That's exactly why this diary is misleading...

        •  you sound................sad. (4+ / 0-)

          demanding worse news, are we?

I want Obama to win as badly as anyone.  I'm just being cautious and prudent.

I'm saying that there's absolutely no evidence of a bounce.  Its not bad news or good news.  It's just a random one day sample

Ask Nate Silver if he thinks this is a bounce.  I think you know what he'd say.

            •  Canada, you must NEVER ... (0+ / 0-)

              Say a discouraging word here.

Do, and your 'concern will be noted.' Take it from me.  More than 6,000 comments since 2003 and about 20 'donuts' in that time, ALL for daring to question the pom-pom wavers, or the knee-jerk Obama critics.

I mean, really.  I do tend to post a lot of comments when pissed, but the Kos is a place we can ALL vent, and God knows we need to, often.  The whole hide-rate thing is a bad joke anyway, and plus: I like donuts!

And being reality-based, hearing about the 'altitude' in Denver and all the other wingnut-worthy excuse crap was too much.

That said: sure it's no 'bounce' but hell, let's have some fun with good news.

          •  It is sad..... (0+ / 0-)

.....it's a little bitty sympathy bounce!.....that's sad dammit!

        •  All we can say is Oct 4th number is 7% better (0+ / 0-)

          than the Sept 27th number.

          NOW for some Math!!! :))

          - The Oct 4th number replaced the Sept 27th number resulting in the 7 day average increasing by 1%.

          - Therefore 1/7 of Oct 4th number minus 1/7 of Sept 27th number 1%

          - This means that the Oct 4th number is bigger than the Sept 27th number by 7%

Unless we know more about the Sept 27th number, or can make justifiable assumptions about it, we cannot make any deductions on whether the Oct 4 number is bigger than the number on Oct 3rd.

I hope this was not too much Math!
