I was riffing and had no idea all that was such a science.

Takes all the fun out of kismet, synchronicity, astrology, and intuition. But that is how the pros do it, heh.

And while this kind of charting out of things may be ancient, hasn't it gotten much more thought out and perhaps  more refined because of the necessity of computer programming,  perhaps needing a level of certainty confounded and made much more complex by the random sh*t that do happen. Anywhooo....

Very interesting down that Wiki rabbit hole that was , thanks very!

I haven't heard of anyone trying to formally incorporate uncertainty into a key but I suppose it could be done.

What you're talking about sounds more like discriminant function analysis or some other multivariate statistic where you plug all the data in and try and find the combination of variables that best separates the samples into groups.

how much should I be charging you all for my insights?

I remember in the 60's in engineering school/college, the dark ages, taking classes from famous perfessors who were actually inventing the modern computer, both hardware and software, at the time, and sharing it with us very interested fellow students...
I went to take a basic logic course, and it was only available from the philosophy dept, and was soooo abstract I nearly jumped out the window.

This stuff, on then other hand, if that had been taught by even the most distracted TA, it could have been really helpful.

Engineering school was so totally lacking in teaching any kind of thinking or analysis or decision making.. strictly lab research..and then didn't even have a good course anywhere in the school in grant writing, sales, finance or anything else necessary for 'engineering' to take place.

Shoulda transferred...but afaik they were all similar..that's why the model became BachSci in Engineering, Master's in Business about 20 years later.

In one computer peripherals company I worked at, a very expensive quality control program failure problem could have been solved by just such a charted out failure path as this...yet after product recalls and weeks spent weeks spinning of the wheels until a late night tech said, "well, I found this stuff in the lady's bathroom."..a banned silicon containing hand cream, being spread thru the epoxy dependent operation.
