    would check out the books I wanted from the "adult" section before I could get in.

      I was too determined to prove him wrong.  you know, boys.
      Plus, the library was -my- place, my sanctuary.  The only time he went to the library was after I got my card, but then again, it wasn't long before he went to Nam.

      He did let me 'steal' his text books by leaving them in plain sight when he wasn't using them (and pretend he didn't know).  Funny, but he seemed to need help on his homework occasionally, but only on subjects where I had progressed in his books.  strange...

      He was the absolute best bro. that a person could hope for.
      Always made me feel smart, when he could have dismissed me in an instant. The dare motivated me to not only read, but to try to out do him in any area, and he was never threatened by it.  Just a constant drive to excell.
